well played, toledo

Since I'm always carping at the government about its myriad faults I thought it only fair to give this Congresswoman a little love for being awesome. As you may have heard, the economy has gone teats-up, and Toledo, Ohio is in a full-on depression. So all these people are being foreclosed on, and their Congresswoman, Marcy Kaptur, is telling them all to just stay put and be squatters in their homes, and force the bank to produce the note showing ownership of the mortgage--which, of course it can't. Mwah hah hah hah! Because the banks have split all the mortgages six ways from Sunday, they're going to have the devil's own time finding the paperwork, so meanwhile the homeowners can just keep on keeping on.

For real. It makes no sense that there are not heads rolling in the street right now about all the lovely new money that was printed to keep banks healthy and people in their homes, of which there is no sign. Yeah, a bunch of people bought too much house for them. But a bunch of people didn't. And you guys, printing new money is a super great way to fix problems! Why isn't it working? Why are the CEOs being all sneaky and getting bonuses, just because there's no oversight?

So I'm very proud of this lady. I love a good round of Sticking It to the Man. Here's the full video.
